- In 2014 the FIFA World Cup Brazil also generated just over 2.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions
- Waste Management (WM) estimates that the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL generate approximately 35,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) each year from their fans’ waste activities
- In 2011, Major League Baseball’s 73 million fans went to 2,430 regular season games
